Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles

"Some men see things as they are and say, why? But, I dream of things that never were and say, why not" — Robert F. Kennedy 1968

WaterLife's vision is clean, safe, affordable water and sanitation that offers health, dignity and opportunity to children and families in disadvantaged communities worldwide.

WaterLife's mission is to leverage the power of multiple sectors to establish a self-sustaining, collaborative philanthropic model that implements projects and helps disadvantaged communities to own, create and maintain their sustainable water and sanitation solutions.

WaterLife guiding principles ensure that we base each project on self-identified local needs with respect for individuals and diverse cultures, adhering to a "pull" strategy; engage only in projects where measurable results can be achieved; gain cooperation and support from stakeholders, e.g. community groups, governments, business, non-profits, women's groups; implement strategy following strict processes before, during and after projects, including a holistic view of the water problem that introduces health, sanitation and sustainable water management into every project;

We differentiate WaterLife as being about "action" rather than "words." We seek support and funding primarily from the global corporate and private sector via a sustainable funding model and strive constantly to ensure the best possible use of funds to provide value for communities served and value for donor dollars invested.

WaterLife implements and supports appropriate technologies and project models tailored to the local situation. We operate in a pragmatic, efficient, economical and transparent fashion, without influence of political or religious motives and adhere to the highest ethical standards.

WaterLife is relentless, action-oriented, and "can do" in approach!
